Minnesota Miniature Gaming Association (MMGA)

About the MMGA

The Minnesota Miniature Gaming Association (MMGA) was founded in 1995. We are a completely volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting miniature gaming in Minnesota (USA) and the surrounding regions.

We hold quarterly conventions featuring games for everyone - beginning players to established veterans. Members are also a great resource for information on miniature games and local venues. The MMGA conducts demonstration and instructional games for both new games and old favorites. Various tournaments are also scheduled.

The MMGA maintains a database of members (aka ""mailing list""). We use this database to give our members advance notice of MMGA events and other news. Everyone attending our ReCon event is automatically added to our mailing list, although if you haven't been to ReCon before, you can always email us your info.

One of the best ways -- and the most enjoyable -- to find out more about the MMGA is to come to one of our ReCon events and get a look at the games underway. Sight-seeing is always free!

We make active use of an email-based discussion list which is available to all interested miniatures gamers in the Minnesota area. You can opt to receive messages in several different ways. To join the list, or for more information, visit our Yahoo Group:

The Code Of The MMGA

All great people have a Code. Look at the Code of the West and the Code of Hammurabi, for example.

Well, the MMGA has a code too, and here it is:

  1. Have fun!
  2. MMGA gamers are valued for their company above all else. Those who attend MMGA events play well with others.
  3. MMGA events are intended for fun and the exchange of information between people in miniatures gaming hobby.
  4. MMGA gamers are prepared to discuss their game and hobby with onlookers.
  5. The MMGA supports any game that uses miniatures.
  6. The MMGA welcomes new rules and interpretations that expand the scope of miniatures gaming.
  7. MMGA games are honest contests between trusted opponents.
  8. Arguments have no place at an MMGA event.
  9. Decisions of referees or hosts are final. Differences are resolved by calm discussion – and die rolls.
  10. Games should continue at their best pace.
  11. The MMGA encourages aesthetics on the game table. Onlookers should be given a good visual experience. This includes:
    • Figures should be painted and based as appropriate for the game.
    • Gaming terrain should be as realistic as possible.

So that's the Code. We know it isn't the easy way, but it is the MMGA way!
